What we don't collect

Every tool on RateOn — the keyboard tester, typing speed test, polling rate test, ghosting/NKRO test, and key chatter test — runs entirely in your browser. Your keystrokes, typing results, Hz measurements, and chatter/ghosting data are never sent to our servers, stored in a database, or shared with anyone. You can verify this yourself by opening your browser's Network tab while using any tool: you'll see no outgoing requests carrying your input.

We also don't require an account to use any tool, so we have no login credentials, email addresses, or profile data tied to your usage at all.

What we do collect

Right now, RateOn runs with no analytics or tracking scripts of any kind — we don't currently know how many people visit, which pages are popular, or anything else about your visit beyond what any web server logs by default (like your IP address and browser type, kept only in standard hosting-provider access logs). If we add privacy-respecting analytics in the future to understand aggregate traffic, this section will be updated to say so plainly — and it will never be tied to your keystrokes or test results, since those never leave your device in the first place.

Cookies

The only cookie RateOn sets is one that remembers your chosen language (for the site's multi-language version) so you don't have to reselect it on every visit. It contains nothing personally identifying — just a language code — and isn't used for tracking or advertising. We don't use any third-party or advertising cookies.

Local storage

The only thing RateOn saves in your browser's local storage is your light/dark mode preference, so the site remembers your choice on your next visit instead of resetting to the default every time. Everything else — layout selection, test results, tested keys — resets when you leave or refresh the page; none of it is saved anywhere. The theme preference stays on your device and is never transmitted to us; you can clear it at any time through your browser's site-data settings.

Children's privacy

RateOn doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, since none of our tools require you to submit any personal information to use them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes — for example, if we add analytics or a new feature that stores data differently — we'll update the date at the top of this page and describe the change in the relevant section above.
