Using our tools

RateOn's tools — the keyboard tester, typing speed test, polling rate test, ghosting & NKRO test, and key chatter test — are provided free of charge, as-is, for personal and professional use. You don't need an account, and there's no limit on how often you can use them or how many keys/sessions you test.

No warranty

Our tools are best-effort measurement aids, not certified hardware diagnostics. For example: the polling rate test measures repeat-key intervals as a software-level proxy for Hz, not a raw USB/HID readout; the ghosting test can only report what the browser actually receives, so it can't always distinguish true hardware ghosting from an OS or driver dropping an event; and the key chatter test flags a heuristic (a press-release-press cycle under 40ms), not a certified switch-failure diagnosis. We don't guarantee measurement precision and aren't liable for purchasing, repair, or other decisions made based on these results.

Acceptable use

Don't attempt to scrape, disrupt, rate-limit-bypass, or otherwise abuse the site in ways that affect other users' access or degrade service. Don't attempt to reverse-engineer the tools to misrepresent their results (for example, to falsely claim a certified polling-rate or NKRO benchmark for marketing purposes).

Intellectual property

The RateOn name, design, and the code powering these tools belong to RateOn. You're welcome to link to any page on the site or share your own test results (screenshots, WPM scores, etc.); you don't need our permission for that.

Changes

We may update these terms occasionally as tools are added or changed; continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. Significant changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above.
